When to Contact Your Emergency Vet
Not all pet emergencies are obvious and alarming. In certain instances, you may not realize that your pet is in distress. That’s why you should always contact your veterinarian if you have any concerns about your pet. The scenarios below are just some examples of what might constitute a pet emergency:
- Difficulty breathing
- Choking or gagging
- Seizures
- Vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours or more
- Straining or unable to eliminate
- Collapse/loss of consciousness
- Hemorrhaging
- Bleeding from the nose, ears, mouth, or anus
- Possible broken bones
- Fell from a high place
- Hit by a car
- Attacked by a wild animal or other pet
- Stomach is bloated and hard to the touch
- Ate a toxin (pills, wild mushroom, chocolate, etc.)
